Helga was born in Austria and grew up in a Mountain Village where going to school on skis was not unusual. To ski the intimidating Mountains rising from her backyard, she first had to climb them. Nature, mountains, skiing, were to become her destiny. So when she came to Innsbruck, the ski capital of Austria, she found her ski buddy Adi on the steepest terrain of the area, the Hafelekar.
Helga moved on to Paris to study at the Sorbonne, under an "auberge arrangement" with a family and found out months later, when Charles De Gaulle, President of France, came for dinner, that she was working for Monsieur Farrat, the Finance Minister of France.
After Sorbonne, she took out a winter season to teach skiing at Stratton MT. VT, and had to keep up on skis with Adi, his brother Heinz and a range of high level pros. Heinz just came from Obergurgl AT, where he was ski trainer for the renowned University's - Austrian Ski Institute. The Stratton Ski school under Emo Henrich was laced with top level Professionals, including the Olympic Gold Medal winner Ernst Hinterseer, and Silver Medal winner Hias Leitner. It is not to say that she met their level, but that her skiing was forget in a very challenging environment.
When she married Adi later, her compass was set for a life on skis. She became his co-assistant in all of his adventures, and was deeply immersed in ski training and the ski industry ever since.
